MODERNA COVID-19 VACCINE BOOSTER UPDATE

In anticipation of the CDC recommendation, following the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) advisory committee recommending giving booster shots of Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine to people ages 65 and older and other vulnerable Americans, Audubon County Public Health and Audubon County Memorial Hospital will be holding community Moderna booster clinics. Below are the following dates, times, and locations.

Audubon County Memorial Hospital to hold Pfizer Booster Clinic

Audubon County Memorial Hospital will be holding a Pfizer Booster Clinic on Wednesday, October 6, 2021 from 8:00am-10:00am at the hospital for qualified individuals. Vaccines will be given by appointment only and you must sign up before Monday, October 4, 2021.

This year, Audubon County Memorial Hospital (ACMH) responded to the COVID-19 pandemic with rapid response protocols, dissemination of facts, and the distribution of vaccines. ACMH continues to provide services that meet the growing needs of Audubon County. Women’s Health Services and the Weight Loss Clinic are just a couple of the services now available to the community.

Public Health Opens FREE COVID-19 Testing Clinic Rapid Testing Available

Public Health will be offering free rapid COVID-19 testing for anyone who is experiencing symptoms or who would like to “test out” of quarantine due to a family exposure. Children under the age of 5 must see their primary care provider for COVID-19 testing.

Colonoscopies Now Recommended at Age 45

Among cancers that affect both men and women, colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer deaths in the United States. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and The American Cancer Society (ACS) have updated their guidelines for colon cancer screenings. The updated recommendation is to begin colorectal screening exams for people 45 years of age, who are at an average risk for the disease.

With the surge of the highly contagious Delta variant and the increasing number of positive COVID-19 cases across the United States, Audubon County Memorial Hospital and Clinics and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommend the COVID-19 vaccination to all eligible people 12 years and older.
